Hi everyone, and welcome to the start of summer! ☀️🎨

Things are certainly warming up at the gallery, and we have plenty happening to get you out of the house and into the sunshine!

Heritage Day at the Gallery 🇿🇦🎶

This Thursday, 24 September 2026, is Heritage Day, and we’re celebrating with a fantastic day at the gallery!

Expect live music, soulful sounds, entertainment, good company and braai packs for sale — because what would Heritage Day be without a braai?

Everything gets going from 10h00, so come along, bring your friends and family, and enjoy a festive day filled with music, entertainment and plenty of fun.

Artists – Don't Forget Your Entries! 🎨

A gentle reminder to all artists that entries for the East London Fine Art Society's Peep Show Exhibition are due by Monday, 28 September 2026.

Please remember to:

• Clearly write your name and the title of the artwork on the back of each work.

• Make sure eye screws are securely attached and your artwork is ready to hang.

It makes life considerably easier for everyone — especially the poor souls who have to hang it all!

A Change of Opening Date! 🍷

Following a special motion prompted by public request — yes, you asked and we listened! — we have decided to move the opening of the exhibition to Saturday, 10 October 2026 at 12 noon.

The opening will take place in the Coach House at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery, and everyone is welcome.

There will be wine, fruit juice and cocktail snacks to enjoy while we take a leisurely look at the wonderful collection of work.

The change to a daytime opening is intended to make it easier for everyone to attend, particularly those who would rather not be driving around at night. We hope to see many more of you there!

Something Creative in Chintsa East 🌿🎨

Last but certainly not least, Kerry-Lyn Honey from Hartspace is hosting an exciting event at Ikigai Living in Chintsa East.

It sounds like a wonderfully creative affair, so if you're looking for something a little different, this could be just the ticket. Anyone interested is encouraged to contact Kerry-Lyn directly to book.

So, as always, there is plenty happening, plenty to see and hopefully plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the arts.

East London Fine Art Society Peep Show Exhibition 2026

CALL FOR ENTRIES

For this exhibition artists are invited to submit artworks that must measure not more than A5 format (148mm x 210mm) or preferably smaller.

ARTISTS PLEASE REMEMBER:

Closing date for entries is Monday 28 September 2026 at 16h00

All works must be properly framed with eye screws attached ready to be hung as well as the artist’s name and title placed on the back of the work.

A maximum of ten entries are allowed per artist.

Entry forms can also be collected from the gallery or downloaded off the website.

Cost for entry is R15.00 per entry for a non-member and R5.00 per entry for members.

I am super excited to be collaborating with Ikigai Living, in Chintsa East to bring you Creative Art Workshops being facilitated by Hartspace Art Studio from 24 – 25 October 2026. 

We have various packages, suited to participants individual needs with regards to art tuition, accommodation, meals and art materials. 

Over the two days, we will explore:

• Oil painting methods, skills and techniques

• Creating an oil painting, inspired by our beautiful surroundings

• Developing ideas through sketching and observation, including the importance of composition

• Discover the richness and versatility of oil colour when mixing colours

• Learning ‘How to See’ and exploring new ways of seeing

• Translating what we see into creative expression

• The connection between mindfulness and the creative process

• Developing your own creative voice and individual approach

• Creating unique and aesthetically engaging works of art

• Sharing the experience with a small group of like-minded people in a supportive and beautiful environment
