Editor's Letter
As we move into the second half of the year, the team at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery is delighted to share an exciting programme of events that will carry us through to the end of 2026. Whether you are an art collector, history enthusiast, poet, potter, or simply someone who enjoys being part of our vibrant creative community, there is something for everyone.
One of the highlights on our calendar is the return of Strauss & Co. Valuation Day. It has been some time since South Africa's leading fine art and decorative arts auction house has visited the gallery, making this a wonderful opportunity to bring along your paintings, antiques, jewellery, silver, ceramics, collectables, and other treasured items for professional evaluation. Their experienced specialists will provide expert advice on the significance and market value of your items, and, should you wish, discuss the possibility of offering them for sale through one of their prestigious auctions.
This Saturday we also welcome Turquoise Voice, a poetry session led by Silke Heiss. Whether you are an established poet, an aspiring writer, or someone who simply enjoys the spoken word, this promises to be an inspiring and welcoming gathering where creativity and storytelling take centre stage.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the Potters Market, taking place at the gallery on 3 October 2026. This popular event celebrates the incredible talent of our local ceramic artists and makers. We are currently calling for vendors, so if you create pottery or ceramic art, don't miss this opportunity to showcase your work to a wide audience.
