BoM VISUAL ARTS COMPETITION PARTICIPATION REGISTRATION 2025

BoM Talent Search Art Competition ~ showcasing the boundless creativity and collective talent of a diverse nation.

Artists are to select one of 3 set mediums, to produce an artwork during a one-day session at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery in East London on Saturday 16th August 2025 (Drawing and Painting.) Artists to clearly indicate on the form which media they are doing.

Registration to enter closes Wednesday 13 August 2025. [Physical entry forms to be handed in at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery by no later 16h00. Digital entries accepted until midnight.]

Due to limited space at venue, only 15 entries per discipline will be accepted.

All qualifying artworks will be exhibited at the BoM Talent Search Gala event from the 04 – 07 September 2025 at ICC East London.

Additionally, competition artworks will be part of the BoM Gala Hope Exhibition and remain on display and available for purchase at the ICC East London until and including Sunday 07 September 2025.

Entrants to be at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery, East London. at 10:00 am and will conclude by 16:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided at 13:00 pm.

Wonderful art material hamper prizes for first, second and third place in Drawing and Painting.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

By entering the competition, you agree to abide by all rules.

• Conditions of entry:

Entrants are to take careful note of the following conditions non-compliance will result in disqualification.

1. Only emerging artists who are 16 years or older who have not yet held a solo exhibition except for an exhibition which was held for academic purposes may enter.

2. Only artists who are citizens or permanent residents of South Africa may participate in this competition.

3. All entries must be accompanied by the following documentation: Completed and signed entry form Copy of RSA ID / Permanent Residents Permit

4. An artist may only enter a maximum of one work for the competition

5. All works should be the original artistic creation of the participating artist and may not be constitute any infringement of copyright.

6. No copies of artwork done by other artists may be used as reference images.

7. A reference photograph, on a phone or printed copy, may be used by the artist on the competition day.

8. Only materials supplied by BoM Talent Search on the day of the competition may be used for the various media. No other additional materials may be brought into the competition facility.

9. The competition work time is 5 hours, divided into two sessions with a mandatory half hour break in between, plus set-up and clear-up time allocations.

10. Entrants are to clearly state which medium they wish to work in.

11. Once the completed registration form has been submitted, the date and medium cannot be changed, however BoM Talent Search reserves the right to change the date should there be too many entrants. In this event the entrant will be notified via email by no later than 14 August 2025.

12. Completed, signed registration forms are to be submitted by no later than 13 August 2025.

13. A Parent/Guardian signature, as consent to enter, must be on all entries of children younger than 18.

14. Although the artworks will receive professional care and the usual and reasonable safety precautions will apply, BoM does not take responsibility for damage or loss of artworks.

RISKS

15. BoM does not take responsibility for any injury to any person participating in this competition or for any lost or damage to personal property.

16. By entering this art competition, you are granting BoM a non-exclusive right to reproduce images of your artwork for the purposes of advertising the event, on our websites, newsletters, and social media accounts and those of our promotional partners.

SELECTION AND WINNING CHOICES

17. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence with the organizers/adjudicators will be entered.

18. It is in the sole and final decision of the organizers/adjudicators to cancel any entry on the grounds of eligibility, infringement of any third-party rights or the transgression of the constitutional right of freedom of expression.

19.. Artworks will remain on display and available to purchase until 07 September 2025. A commission fee of 20% of the achieved sale price will be retained and paid to BoM. Artists will be notified of the successful sale of their artwork via WhatsApp, SMS or email by no later than the 15 September 2025. Payments will be made directly into the artists stipulated account by no later than 10 September 2025. All unsold artworks are to be collected from Ann Bryant Gallery, 9 St Marks Road, Belgravia, East London on the 8th - 10th September 2025 between 09:00 - 16:00. Failure to collect artwork timeously, or make alternative arrangements with the gallery, will automatically constitute permission given by the artist to BoM Talent Search to make decisions over the artwork at their own discretion.

PREPARATION OF COMPLETED ARTWORK FOR JUDGING

20. Incomplete artworks will be disqualified.

21. Artist to ensure that all pencil and charcoal drawings are sprayed with fixative to avoid smudging.

22. The artist’s name and telephone number, artworks title, medium and proposed selling price of the work must be clearly written on the back of the artwork the top end of the work must be indicated clearly with an arrow to avoid uncertainty and error.

23. A written conceptual statement or synopsis that outlines the central idea of the work in no longer than 100 words, must accompany each artwork.
