Formed in November 1925, and after 1946, when the Ann Bryant Art Gallery was established, the society played a meaningful role in gathering art to bolster the bequest by Mrs Ann Bryant, purchasing a number of artworks for the collection over the years. At present the society has 90 paid up members, and is affiliated to the South African National Association for the Visual Arts, S.A.N.A.V.A. The society holds an annual exhibition of members’ work in the Gallery, as well as a Peep Show, of miniature paintings, and Anything but Paint exhibition
